About - Net2 plus is a networked access control system. A networked system gives the advantages of central control, event reporting and flexible control over users' access. Each control unit is part of a network but can run independently making its own decisions and remembering events.

One Net2 plus control unit can be the network interface to the LAN and also run a wired RS485 daisy chain of other Net2 plus or Net2 classic units, removing the need for an independent TCP/IP to RS485 converter. Net2 plus is available with 12/24V power supply AC DC, power over ethernet (POE), or trigger disconnect power supply, which is suitable for fire alarm disconnect. PoE is a technology that allows both power and data to be passed along Ethernet cabling. Net2 plus with PoE simply plugs straight into the existing LAN using a standard RJ45 plug (providing it is powered by either a PoE switch or a PoE injector).

Control units are sold as a PCB board only or within a plastic housing. The Net2 plus unit now comes with PoE+ power supply in metal/plastic cabinet; no separate mains supply back-up required.

Installation - There is a label on the Net2 plus control unit that clearly shows color coded connections for reader, power supply, etc. The unit has a volt free relay and so can switch any lock or electrical device. Exit buttons, door contacts, tamper switches and alarm devices may be connected.

Control units communicate to the PC via the standard TCP/IP protocol of a LAN network. The Net2 plus should be given a fixed/static IP address. All configuration of the unit is done using the Net2 Configuration Utility.

There are diagnostic LEDs mounted close to their relevant terminals to assist with trouble free installation. End of line resistors can be switched into the circuit as required. External terminating resistors are not required.

Operation - Any changes made at the PC are immediately communicated and stored at the control unit. When a user presents their token to the reader, the control unit identifies them and permits or denies access as appropriate.
