A day in the life of a Security Installer at the Paxton Tech Tour 2023

We began the Paxton Tech Tour in South Africa in February. I had the chance to attend one of the events in Johannesburg earlier. It was there that I became a Paxton installer for the day, and learned more in-depth about our products and those who install them. The Paxton Tech Tour currently runs until June 2023. Security installers can sign up for an event near them on our website free of charge.
The Paxton Tech Tour is a half-day product experience showcase and business seminar. It gives installers a chance to develop knowledge of our access control solutions and explore business opportunities with our experts. We also introduce Paxton Rewards at the event, our brand-new installer loyalty programme. Attendees to the tour automatically become Silver Partner in the programme and can start earning points for Paxton products, branded items, and more!
Werner Geldenhuys, our Regional Sales Manager for South Africa, was the trainer at the event. Meeting and talking to customers isn’t new to Werner, so he did great at hosting the event with useful information and humour combined.
Werner started the day with an introduction to Paxton’s diverse range of access control solutions, including Net2, Paxton10, Entry series, and PaxLock. He discussed the features of the products and showed us how simple the technologies are.
Then comes the practical workshop where we got to set up and navigate the different systems and products. Werner spent individual time with all installers, answering questions and discussing their installation projects.
As Werner has rich knowledge about our products, we all had fun discussing and playing with the systems. To me as someone who writes about our products and sees them every day around our head offices in Brighton, UK, the tour was particularly helpful and interesting.
My experience as a Paxton installer for the day was productive, with beneficial product education and interactive hands-on workshop. For new installers, the tour can give a comprehensive, and simple, overview of Paxton’s products. I can also see how experienced installers benefit from configuring systems by themselves and having discussions with Werner.
As well as the additional benefit of networking with each other, installers were showing and discussing previous jobs. They also shared how the features could be applied and help them fulfil their customers’ security requirements.
