People of Paxton

Dan Drayton, International Sales Manage

24th May 2021 – Brighton

In this month’s edition of ‘People of Paxton’, we spoke to Dan Drayton, International Sales Manager about his journey and the role he plays in expanding our business in the overseas markets.

Dan has worked for Paxton for just over eight years, having joined after accumulating a wealth of experience working for companies which have a close connection with the Access Control industry.

“After university I secured a job with a company called Arrow, a global supplier of electronical components, where I worked for two years. I then left to join Future Electronics, who are in fact one of Paxton’s largest suppliers.

“I held a variety of roles at Future Electronics across my 17 years of service, starting out in Product Management, before moving into Supplier Management, and then into Sales.”

As International Sales Manager, Dan is responsible for generating new business for Paxton across the globe. “My role at Paxton is to be responsible for the Sales teams in our Rest of World markets. When I joined in 2013 my team consisted of just one colleague based in the UK and one in France. Today we are a team of 13 people across four regions, France, Germany, South Africa and the Middle East. Through year-on-year growth, these regions generate millions of pounds of additional revenue for Paxton.”

Moving forward Dan’s focus is on growing Paxton’s customer base in his active markets, with Paxton’s new combined access control and video management solution at the forefront of those efforts. “In our team we are all about finding and securing as many new customers for Paxton as possible. To achieve our objectives, we will be taking our great products around the world to as many potential new customers as possible, with a particular focus on our latest system, Paxton10.”

When asked about his favourite part of working for Paxton, Dan highlighted the enthusiasm of the people of Paxton: “So many organisations have numerous mission statements and checkboxes, but I love the way my colleagues are passionate about Paxton and who we are, something which is reflected when I witness staff talking to stakeholders, colleagues and customers.”

Outside of work, Dan likes to keep active in a number of ways and has even spent many years tending to his livestock. He explains “I’ve always been an active person, so evenings and weekends tend to include a mixture of cycling, golfing, cooking, and gardening.
“Most people are surprised to know that for the past 15 years I’ve kept chickens and pigs! My wife is also a Head Chef and owner of a fine dining restaurant in our local village of Ironbridge.”
