Meet PaxLock Pro2: What’s new and who’s using it
Paxton has launched PaxLock Pro2, a brand-new re-engineered wireless access-controlled door handle, built to protect straight out of the box. The latest evolution of PaxLock has been engineered to withstand the most demanding environments, while maintaining a sleek and contemporary design.
Designed to work on all standard doors and compatible with all new DIN mortice locks, PaxLock Pro2 is a flexible option for security installers across a wide range of applications.
Adam Stroud, Paxton’s CEO, said: “Our new PaxLock may look similar, but appearances can be deceiving. The new product has been re-engineered from the ground up, with virtually all parts updated from the previous design. Using high-quality materials and components, we have achieved a design that is extremely durable, offering hassle and maintenance-free operation in a wide range of conditions.
“We have never tested a product more than PaxLock Pro2,” said Adam Stroud. “The re-engineered mechanism has been tested well beyond a million cycles. With the new privacy button, we have also added a much-requested feature to the product.”
Built to last
Durability is at the core of PaxLock Pro2. It is the strongest handle Paxton has ever produced, with a 45Nm torque rating and IK10 impact rating.
The handle has been fire tested with FD30 and FD60 doors to EN16434-1 standard and holds EN179 certification for safe egress, ensuring compliance across a wide range of commercial and public sector applications.
New features for simpler access control
Following direct installer feedback, Paxton has introduced new features to improve security and ease of use. The new Privacy Button allows users to instantly secure a room with one touch, preventing outside access until released.
PaxLock Pro2 provides up to 55,000 operations, or two years, on one set of batteries, while capacitive wake-up ensures instant response every time a token is presented. The power supply, electric lock, reader and control unit are all contained within the door handle, while the installation process has been simplified and refined to make it easier to install and more forgiving.
The product is compatible with Net2 and Paxton10, as well as in standalone mode, and the single variant is suitable for both internal and external-facing doors. For Paxton10 users, the dual-frequency RFID reader supports BLE mobile credentials, allowing users to unlock doors with their smartphones using free smart credentials.

Twickenham Film Studios
Twickenham Film Studios in London has been a home for filmmakers for more than 100 years. Today, the multi-award-winning creative campus provides bespoke production, post-production and visual production services for feature films, TV series, documentaries, music videos and commercials.
Security and privacy are critical to the business. The site has more than 200 doors, using P50 readers and PaxLock Pros to secure offices, stages, sound theatres and general spaces. Protecting people and expensive equipment is important, while access control also needs to protect the privacy of artists and their work.
Security installer 2bsecure took over maintenance of the existing Net2 system, supporting the facilities team with system upgrades and general maintenance. As part of the work, the site was extended with eight PaxLock Pro2 handles.
The installation provides a real-world example of the new product’s focus on reliability and ease of installation. Since installation, the handles have been operating without issues.
Carl Childs, Head of Engineering at Twickenham Film Studios, says: “Since installing them, we’ve had no complaints, in fact we’ve not even heard from the clients at all which is a sure sign they are working well.
“From an engineering aspect, we like the changes made to the design and can appreciate how the improvements make the installation process much easier, with less fiddly and delicate parts to contend with.”
HKUK – Hong Kong Community Centre
At HKUK – Hong Kong Community Centre in Kingston upon Thames, PaxLock Pro2 forms part of a wider Paxton10 access control and video management system.
HKUK was founded by Hong Kong residents who have recently moved to Kingston and provides a community platform offering children’s education, senior wellness activities, local markets, festival celebrations and other events.
The organisation needed a future-proof system that could develop with the needs of the venue, secure both public and private spaces and provide remote management. Smartphone credentials were also preferred over cards or tokens, while the requirements of the listed building needed to be considered.
2bsecure proposed Paxton10 alongside Entry and PaxLock Pro2. In total, 28 doors were secured, with 14 using PaxLock Pro2. For an additional level of security, a Paxton10 mini bullet camera was installed at every door so that the system could record an image with every event that happened at the door.
The installation demonstrates the flexibility of PaxLock Pro2 within a wider Paxton system, combining wireless door handles with access control, video and mobile credentials.
“We’re very happy, the system works great without any issues. The door handles are good quality and they operate very quickly,” says the customer.
Archbishop Lanfranc Academy
The Archbishop Lanfranc Academy in London provides another example of PaxLock Pro2 being used to extend an established access control system.
The modern school has a long history of educating students from Croydon, Merton and Sutton. Its site includes a nursery and secondary school, as well as facilities hired out to the public, including three 3G pitches, a sports hall, activities studio, conference spaces and a catering kitchen.
Creating a safe learning environment is a priority, while the use of the site’s facilities by local people, charities, community groups and commercial organisations means access control needs to work across a wide range of spaces.
2bsecure has worked with the academy for seven years, building out its Net2 access control system to around 250 doors. The site is secured primarily by wireless door handles, alongside some hard-wired doors and video door entry.
In 2026, the opportunity arose to extend the system further with 22 PaxLock Pro2 handles.
For the academy’s Facilities Manager, the updated design has made a difference to installation.
“The new Paxton handles are an improvement in terms of installation. The updated wiring system makes installation quicker and easier. Overall, very happy with them.”
