Launching Net2 Checkpoint Control

To support COVID-secure buildings we have launched a software update for our access control system Net2. This is called Checkpoint Control. The reason we have developed this additional functionality is to help our Net2 users protect their employees and visitors by monitoring and approving people as they enter their sites.
Net2 Checkpoint Control follows on from our introduction of Net2 Occupancy Management and integration with thermal scanning hardware. Both additions were released for our system users back in July 2020. All three features now work simply and seamlessly together to help reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 around populated buildings.
When a site uses Checkpoint Control, temporary access levels can be assigned to one or more users. These will remain in place until those users have been verified through checkpoints which are assigned to specific doors in designated areas. This allows system administrators to ensure all people pass through checkpoints at a frequency that can be configured to suit the site and stop overcrowding.
Access through a checkpoint can be verified manually in person or by using technology to support automated validation. The automated process works by identifying an individual via their access credentials, which can then be followed by a thermal scan to further increase protection against the spread of Coronavirus. Once identity, and where relevant, an individual’s health and well-being has been approved, the checkpoint will validate and grant further building access.
We have also included new user functionality in the update that further enhances the Net2 Occupancy Management feature. Virtual traffic lights can now be used on screens to indicate occupancy levels. This means that sites will not need to integrate traffic light hardware. The feature further supports social distancing by informing the user that the area they are entering is safe for them to do so. Using this alongside Checkpoint Control will help reduce bottlenecks and overcrowding.
The update also has the flexibility to split staff between multiple checkpoints. This can help with maintaining social distancing and a buildings flow of people by not allowing an area to become overrun. In case of an emergency, we decided to develop an Occupancy Management override. This means that selected people can enter an area that is at capacity should they need to, such as a first aider or senior manager.
