Training Security Installers Post-Lockdown

12th May 2021 – Brighton

In late March, we were pleased to reintroduce in-person face-to-face training workshops in-line with the easing of government restrictions. These sessions are available at the Paxton Technology Centre, located in Brighton, East Sussex, as well as at security installer’s premises upon request.

The aim of the hands-on workshops is to offer in-depth guidance and provide security installers with the knowledge and confidence to install, set-up and maintain Paxton10 – our combined video management and access control platform, and Net2 – our long-established networked access control system.

There are a variety of new safety measures in place to help protect the installers that attend whilst some social distancing restrictions remain in place. These include thermal scanning upon entry, individual training kits, glass partition screens at workstations, sanitizing equipment, and a limited number of attendees to support the current guidelines.

Steve Woodbridge, our Global Training Manager explains: “It is great to be able to train face-to-face once again. There is no better way to learn our systems than getting hands-on and practicing with the equipment.

“By keeping groups sizes small and providing individual training kits, there is actually a greater opportunity for learning, and the ability to provide a more personal experience.”

This newly designed training programme is an adaptation of the well subscribed sessions we offered to new and existing installers prior to the global pandemic. These were also held at the Paxton Technology Centre, and at various locations around the UK, or at an installer’s premises. As with the previous sessions, Paxton trainers will deliver tailored workshops that suit the bespoke requirements of our individual installers.

Steve Woodbridge further explains: “We have worked hard to provide a familiar environment that is conducive to learning and allows attendees to feel safe. Sessions have been well attended and we have been pleased to add more to the schedule to meet the rising demand.

Overall, the feedback we have received from people attending has been overwhelmingly positive

Alongside our in-person training programme, we are continuing to run virtual training which was originally put in-place to support installers through the first UK lockdown. The extended period has taught us; that as a tool, virtual training can be incredibly powerful. It has enabled many customers to quickly understand and implement updates made to Paxton10 and Net2, as well as helped them to plan projects and keep securing buildings all over the UK during somewhat unpredictable times.

These virtual sessions are set to continue for the foreseeable future. This is due to the positive feedback from participants, and to ultimately give them more choice and flexibility in their learning moving forward.
