Updating to Net2 v7: smarter, safer, and ready to go

Net2 has long been a trusted choice for keeping sites safe. With the latest v7 software update, we’ve kept everything you know and trust — and added one thing installers and administrator will notice straight away: Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).

What’s new in Net2 v7?

Released in February 2026, v7 gives your system an extra layer of protection while keeping workflows exactly the same:

  • MFA at login – a second verification step blocks unauthorised access, even if a password is compromised
  • Flexible authentication – system users can email codes or mobile authenticator apps
  • Same interface – dashboards, menus, reports, and workflows remain just as you know them. No retraining is required
  • ISO27001 compliant- increased protection of information and adherence with new industry standards
  • Simple administration- once enabled, MFA will be activated for all software users
  • Modern controllers only – v7 works with our current Net2 Plus controllers. Legacy Classic controllers will stay supported on v6.9 but are not able to upgrade to v7

Why MFA matters?

Passwords are great… until they’re not. MFA adds a second check, so only the right people get into your system.

For installers and site admins, that means:

  • Better control – you can trust who’s logging in
  • Less admin hassle – fewer lockouts and password resets
  • Peace of mind – people don’t need complicated passwords, and accounts stay secure
  • Compliance support – MFA is widely recognised as a key modern security practice

It’s quick, simple, and won’t slow down day-to-day operations. And, most importantly it just makes your site harder to breach.

Planning ahead with Net2 v7

Net2 v7 is built for our current Net2 Plus controller range.

If your site still uses Net2 Classic controllers, don’t worry — your system will keep running normally on v6.9, which remains fully supported. You won’t lose functionality, and everything continues to work just as it always has.

For sites that want MFA and future Net2 updates, Classic controllers can be swapped for Net2 Plus units. They are direct replacements, making the upgrade straightforward and future proof with minimal disruption.

And, as always, they come with the Paxton five-year warranty for added peace of mind.
