We Raced to the King to Fundraise for Teenage Cancer Trust

20th June 2023 – Brighton

Each year our people vote for a charity to support, and this year we are fundraising for Teenage Cancer Trust through year-round activities. Last weekend a team of Paxton employees participated in the Race to the King marathon in Goodwood as one of the charity initiatives.

Race to the King is a South Downs Ultra Marathon steeped in history, organised by Threshold Sports. People come together to enjoy a run or walk in one of the three trails along Chichester coast and Arundel Castle.

Steve Payne, from our Sales team, said: “The continued raising of awareness and money for any charity is so important. If we can help contribute, that can only be a good thing.”

As a keen runner, Steve challenged himself to take part in the 100km trail: “The Race to the King event gave me the opportunity to combine fundraising, something we are passionate about at Paxton, with my hobby, and this time as a team event.”

Paul Edwards, from our Internal Applications team, took on the 50km challenge: “I thought walking the Race to the King was a challenging but enjoyable day. It’s a great way of getting fit, seeing part of the country that I am not very familiar with, and of course raising money for our charity. All round a win win!”

Other Paxton runners included Dan Drayton from Sales; Dan Shaw and Jean-Marc Ah-Kye from our Engineering Department, and Joe Mendes from Manufacturing.
Well done and thank you to everyone who took part!

Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity that provides support specifically for young people aged 13 to 24 facing cancer. All fundraising for 2023 will go to supporting young people with cancer, and their families, through Teenage Cancer Trust’s nursing support based in Brighton.

So far this year we have raised over £4,000. If you would like to contribute to our fundraising effort, visit our JustGiving page.
