What is BIM and How Can it Benefit You?

18th August 2021 – Brighton

For our latest blog post, we’ll introduce you to BIM and take you through the benefits of the new BIM Library on our website. Plus, we’ll explain how it can help architects, engineers and designers to work smarter.

What is BIM?

BIM stands for Building Information Modelling. BIM brings together the information about components within a building, all in one place. It allows users to see product information in a 3D digital format, which will allow you to plug it straight in to any building specifications you may be working on.

It offers collaboration and coordination between project stakeholders and acts as a reference point between contractors and manufacturers when maintenance is required. This can help to identify products, where they are, how long they’ve been there and other useful information, which creates a higher level of awareness across a site.

Selecting BIM objects is fast and simple, and they can be dragged and dropped directly into your model. The NBS (National BIM Library) features over 25,000 products from over 5,000 companies, with over 275,000 active users.

What do we offer with BIM?

We now provide access to BIM objects for a range of Paxton products on our website with the new BIM library. Here you can find over 50 Paxton BIM objects available across our Net2, Paxton10, Entry and PaxLock systems for architects, engineers, designers and contractors. This enables any project in development to easily incorporate a Paxton security solution right from the very early stages of design, in a very simple way.

The Paxton BIM objects are available to download in both Revit and IFC file formats via the Paxton website, using the NBS database, which makes it easier for you to pull our products into your project plans.

Visit our BIM library to see what we currently offer.
