Public Sector

Public sector buildings are varied in their use and, as a result, have differing requirements. Our user-friendly solutions offer the flexibility to open up public areas of a building while securing areas which are only available for employees.

  • Control movement of large numbers of public visitors
  • Manage multi-site facilities with central administration
  • Automated door opening and lock times to restrict access

Customer feedback

We’re very pleased with our new solution, it is simple to use, more reliable, and inexpensive compared to using locks and keys. We can also manage the Net2 system remotely which is great if there’s an issue we need to resolve quickly.

How Paxton helps secure public sector buildings

Managing your building

Our solutions allow users to manage their sites from one central platform when installed on a network, making administration simple and straightforward. In a public building, you can benefit from many features including:

  • Door/building grouping – split your site into public and private areas
  • Reports – build customized reports about user events for individual doors or groups of doors at anytime
  • Card designer – prevent library users from sharing cards by including a photo and their name
  • Video intercom – allows you to communicate with visitors before granting them access to your building

Setting access rights

Depending on which solution you choose, access permissions can be managed remotely from a smart device or browser, from a PC or locally at each door. Our solutions can help you manage your site with a variety of access permissions.

  • Dual authentication – doors can be set to require a token plus PIN for more sensitive areas. With Paxton10, smart credential authentication can also be a requirement.
  • Wireless locksets – can be quickly added to secure offices, or archives, restricting access by the public
  • Temporary access – provide visitors with a token that has a time restriction
  • Emergency lockdown – secure a site at the touch of a button in the event of an emergency

Automated security settings

Additional automation possibilities support the smooth running of your building, saving you time and allowing you to gain more from your system.

  • Timezones – optimize the use of public areas such as libraries, automatically opening and closing doors when they are open to the public
  • Auto-expiration dates – indicate the dates between which the user’s access is valid. Contractors or temporary staff cards can be configured to have access between certain dates and times
  • Roll call – set your system to generate an automatic roll call report when the fire alarm goes off. This helps to identify exactly who is safe once the building has been evacuated

Integrating the system

Integrating with other systems can make your building more streamlined and secure.

  • Intruder alarm – control your intruder and access systems as one across different areas of your building and minimize false alarms
  • Fire alarm – program your fire doors to automatically open in the event of an emergency
  • CCTV – link footage to specific access events in our software
  • Elevator control – utilizing I/O boards the system can be configured to control access into elevators and to individual floors
  • Lighting – program utilities to turn on or off at a specific time. Our systems can also be used to recognize when facilities aren’t being used making sure empty rooms or areas don’t cost money
